Places worth visiting in the region
The Świętokrzyski region lies between two rivers: Wisła and Pilica. In the central part of the voivodeship are the Świętokrzyskie Mountains – together with the Sudety, the oldest mountains in Poland. The highest hill is Łysica (612 m above sea level) in the Łysogóry range. Łysogóry are now protected as the Świętokrzyski National Park.
We recommend that our guests visit:
The Bałtowski Jurasic Park where you can admire life-size dinosaur models.
The Castle in Chęciny, where reunions of the noble took place and where the army left from for the war with Teutonic Knights. The castle consists of two parts: the Upper Castle between the two round towers and a spacious Lower Castle with a rectangular tower, close to which there once used to be a well.
The Museum of Henryk Sienkiewicz in Oblęgorek, which is situated in the palace that was donated to the writer in 1900 by the Polish society for his 25th anniversary of writing.
The Museum of the Kielce's countryside in Tokarnia, in which you can visit twenty-five wooden huts
The Bartek Oak Tree in Zagnańsk, which is estimated to be 600 to 1200 years old.
The Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd, built in 1626-1644 for the order of Krzysztof Ossoliński. According to legend, the castle is divided into four parts corresponding to the number of the seasons of the year. Inside the castle, there are 12 halls (like 12 months in a year) and 52 rooms (like 52 weeks in a year). It is believed the castle was supposed to have 356 windows (like the number of days in a year).
